Tate Britain

Visit Tate Britain for a grand display of British art, including JMW Turner’s seascapes and William Blake’s mystical visions. Gallery entry is free, but booking is recommended for exhibitions. Members enjoy unlimited free entry.

Lubaina Himid CBE RA
Himid, a British artist and curator, was one of the first artists in the UK’s Black Art movement in the 1980s.The artist continues to create activist art, shown in galleries in Britain and worldwide.
Bridget RileyRiley began to paint the black-and-white works for which she first became known. They present a great variety of geometric forms that generate emotions of movement or color.

WOMEN IN REVOLT!

ART AND ACTIVISM IN THE UK 1970-1990 (UNTIL 7 APRIL 2024)

This exhibition showcases the diverse and extensive collection of feminist art created by over 100 talented women artists in the UK. It highlights how women’s networks utilized radical ideas and rebellious techniques to impact British culture significantly. 

COMMISSION: CHRIS OFILI: REQUIEM (ONGOING)

Tate Britain commissioned British artist Chris Ofili to create an artwork for the North Staircase. Ofili wanted to choose a subject that had national significance and considered the impact of painting directly onto the walls of a public building. Tate Modern

The Tate Modern is an exceptional art gallery located across the River Thames. It is housed in a former power station and boasts a vast Turbine Hall that showcases site-specific installations that push the boundaries of artistic expression. You should not miss the awe-inspiring Hyundai Commissions, where international artists create monumental works that ignite conversations and challenge our perception of art. At the Tate Modern, you can see some of the most exciting modern and contemporary art from around the world, including paintings, sculptures, and large-scale installations. 

The gallery is free to visit, and it offers exhibitions by artists worldwide. Members enjoy unlimited free entry to exhibitions without the need to book. However, members still require a free ticket for the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirror Rooms exhibition due to its special and intimate scale. 

Pablo PicassoSon of an art teacher, Pablo Picasso was a painter, sculptor, etcher, lithographer, ceramist, and designer who was born in Malaga, Spain, and worked in an unprecedented variety of styles, influencing 20th-century art.
Henri MatisseHe was a French artist who excelled in colorful paintings and fluid drawings, and was also skilled in printmaking and sculpting.
Yayoi Kusamaa contemporary Japanese artist who works in various art forms such as sculpture, installation, painting, performance, video art, fashion, poetry, and fiction.

A WORLD IN COMMON CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN PHOTOGRAPHY

This exhibition has brought together a group of artists from different generations to showcase their work and address how photography, film, audio, and other mediums have been used to reimagine Africa’s diverse cultures and historical narratives. Some of the artists whose works were displayed in the exhibition include Kelani Abass, Leonce Raphael Agbodjélou, Malala Andrialavidrazana, Atong Atem, Sammy Baloji, James Barnor, Edson Chagas, and Kudzanai Chiurai. 

CAPTURING THE MOMENT (UNTIL 28 APRIL 2024)

Explore the interplay between painting and photography with works by Pablo Picasso, Paula Rego, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Jeff Wall, and more. 

Tate Liverpool

This 24-minute film is called “Greenhouse Project Young Event Producers” and was produced by a group of young people from Toxteth. The film presents an imagined vision of the future showcasing extreme weather conditions that have changed the landscape of Liverpool and the rest of the world.

Tate St Ives

Tate St Ives is a gallery located in Cornwall that offers visitors an opportunity to escape to the sun-drenched shores and enjoy the rugged beauty of the landscape. The gallery provides a sanctuary-like experience, inviting visitors to lose themselves in the creative dialogue between art and nature. Alongside displays from the Tate Collection, the gallery presents modern and contemporary art from around the world through dynamic exhibitions.
