For Bangkok Art Biennale, Anupong was commissioned to create video related to the East Asiatic Building, a historical 19th Century Venetian-style architecture by the Chao Phraya River that brings about nostalgic memories of the Danish and Siamese traders that pioneered commerce and sea trade.

Anupong’s visit to Copenhagen became a source of connection through moving images, offering a reverse view of how Hans Neils Anderson, the founder of East Asiatic Company.

The East Asiatic Company Limited (Bangkok) whereas this primitive historical building was constructed during the reign of King Rama V and that is over 100 years old. The founder was a Danish Captain, Hans Niels Andersen.

In order to produce this creative work, process of finding and gathering data were performed in a variety of formats, both from the relevant documents and by interviews. The processes carried out had reflected interesting issues concerning the surrounded area, memories of spaces and relationships as well.

The ‘Non Narrative’ style of storytelling has been selected to perform this creative work. This storytelling in non-narrative style had been presented through the building’s area, personal memories and the streams.

The intention of using personal memories in presenting this creative work was aimed to be a connection point for the idea of linking memories with boundaries of the building’s area and also to illustrate the relationship between the two areas of The East Asiatic Company Limited Bangkok Building and Asia House Copenhagen Building (formerly East Asiatic Limited Copenhagen Building).
