From the collection One by Two.
This collection brings forth a contrast between a very formal title, which refers to the proportion of the photographic stamp (1 m x 2 m), with a very informal subject matter, the varieties of places I have visited during my travels. One by Two, includes Australia, Italy, Singapore and Stockholm.
When operating a panoramic camera the challenge is to find unity of form within a heterogeneous space, such as an urban landscape. A way of solving this problem is looking at the so-called reality, as light manifestation. For this reason I’m experimenting with infrared film and filters and large format cameras. The result is that in any singular inch of the photograph, reality appears as a luminescent process, in which a strange harmony is fixated between light and darkness, brightness and opacity.
1 x 2 attempts to translate our world into a photographic language.
