This detailed piece consists of Endless’ iconic Chapel bottle, inspired by the alluring Chanel no.5 perfume. By changing the name to Chapel, Endless comments on the way branding has shackled society and enabled luxury goods to become objects of worship in the modern world. The bottle contains his popular crotch grab figure and the renowned fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld. Intricate layering surrounds the bottle, including free hand writing and stencil work. Two Cherubs float alongside, holding their own smaller Chapel bottles. The Cherub’s are Endless’ take on renaissance paintings from the 17th and 18th Century where Cherubs were depicted in classical art as a symbol of peace, playfulness and innocence and often found in places of worship. This painting is part of the artists ‘brand worship’ series, commenting on modern society’s worship of brands and luxury goods. Endless created this piece using a mixture of hand-cut stencils with spray paint, acrylic paint and gold leaf.
